So here you are, wondering whether you should paint or replace your aluminum siding&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>We\u2019ve evaluated thousands of homes with aluminum siding, so we came up with a short infographic to help you get your answer.<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve encountered very few customers who\u2019ve had to completely replace their aluminum siding. Aluminum siding, despite its\u00a0great durability, does wear and eventually tear. But as long as you use good quality paint for aluminum siding \u2013 which results in a hard, high scratch-resistant film \u2013 and application &#8211; to reinforce that durability &#8211; you can most definitely prolong your aluminum siding\u2019s lifespan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><u>It is impossible to paint your aluminum siding when:<\/u><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>It is perforated in too many places (across multiple planks)<\/li>\n<li>It has major dents in it<\/li>\n<li>It is no longer structurally sound or fully attached to the home<\/li>\n<li>It has been repainted by someone else on top of its factory finish<\/li>\n<li>It has excessive oxidation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your aluminum siding has a structural problem, things get more complicated. Paint will help you in the case of minor dents, holes and even in the presence of a little rust. But if it is completely perforated, no longer attached to your house or completely oxidized \u2013 which translates into white rust \u2013 then paint\u00a0is no longer a cost-effective\/viable option for you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><u>Why we don\u2019t suggest painting over a surface that\u2019s already been painted over its factory finish<\/u><\/h4>\n<p>Thing is, if there\u2019s any sort of preparation or application problem with the first coat of paint, there\u2019s a high chance that it will cause the second coat of paint to chip, peel, etc. Sure, you can strip it, but when you start getting into paint stripping, <strong>the project is no longer cost effective<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t determine exactly how long it will take to completely strip the paint, which also means you can\u2019t get an exact price for your project.<\/p>\n<p>For these reasons, we won\u2019t paint your siding if it&#8217;s already been painted because <strong>we deliver permanent results that we can stand behind<\/strong>. Doesn\u2019t mean someone else won\u2019t paint it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><u>Partial Replacement: the hybrid solution between painting and replacing your aluminum siding<\/u><\/h4>\n<p>This is a great cost-effective solution that many people forget about. Even if a few planks are perforated or have major dents, they can still be individually replaced by planks of new siding if the same aluminum siding is still available on the market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Replace the planks that are too damaged to paint, spray the rest!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><u>Are you planning on selling your house?<\/u><\/h4>\n<p>Replacing your aluminum siding is expensive, very expensive. Why spend all that money when you know that you\u2019re not going to stay for much longer? For as long as your aluminum siding is in a good enough shape, paint it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Replacement would be anything but a sensible investment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Low-Cost x Curb Appeal = High Value<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><u>What\u2019s so great about your aluminum siding?<\/u><\/h4>\n<p>There are many reasons why you shouldn\u2019t give up on your aluminum siding quite yet:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Insulation<\/strong>: aluminum has excellent insulating properties\u2026 much better than vinyl siding, for example.\n<ul>\n<li>It allows you to keep the cost of heating and cooling your house down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Resistant<\/strong>: aluminum is a super material. What do we mean by that?\n<ul>\n<li>It is waterproof.<\/li>\n<li>It does not swell, rot or rust.<\/li>\n<li>It is insect-proof (this is more important than it sounds).<\/li>\n<li>It is fire-resistant (this is just as important as it sounds).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cold weather<\/strong>: aluminum fares better than vinyl in cold weather.\n<ul>\n<li>Unlike its plastic counterpart, it\u2019s not sensitive to temperature changes, meaning it won\u2019t become brittle or tough, and therefore won\u2019t start cracking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, should you paint or replace your aluminum siding?
